The Big Day Empty
PostSubject: The Big Day   The Big Day I_icon_minitimeWed Apr 27, 2011 8:58 pm

The night was spent hanging over a computer, a desk with papers almost falling off of it, and attached to a phone. Anita, so energetic about the day to come, was not tiring, even as the night ticked to its end and light painted the horizon. It was going to be a beautiful, wonderful, perfect day!

Her heart had dropped oh-so-lightly, when she and Megan had to finally stop their excited chatter and planning for the 'night'. Only a few more hours, only a few, and all the months that had passed before this day would vanish into the back of Anita's memory. Memories of Megan were foremost in her mind and heart, as well as warm thoughts of the girl she'd met almost half her life ago.

Even before the last maid was awake, Anita scrambled downstairs in usual dress: a light, colorful shirt that hung off her, easily taken off, along with a long, floral design skirt. Beneath was one of her many sets of bathing suits, designed and taylored specifically for her body. She'd have dashed outside and off into the waters, but was caught up by the firm hand of the head maid, and dragged to the breakfast table to eat a most filling meal. The chef could really cook!

When she finally got down to the beach, it still felt as though her energy was brimming and overflowing. She met her friends at the shore, and dove right in to play and talk with them, 'fish' or not. They seemed to listen carefully enough, even those that did not have ears.

Noon was approaching so fast, and yet so slowly.. Before ten had even arrived, Anita crawled up into the dry sands of the shore, curling up in their sunbaked warmth. She didn't realize that she could become so exhausted, to such a level, so soon.. But she would not fall asleep! She lay there, staring towards the docks, and waited.

For a few minutes, anyway. She ended up asleep, curled into the heat, so knocked out that she did not even stir in the slightest as she was moved from direct sun to a softly woven hammock. She'd even had her skirt tied back about her waist to make her more decent.

By the time Megan arrived, Anita was still in the deepest of sleep.

The Big Day Empty

Like wise, Megan hadn't caught much sleep. The entire night was spent packing and repacking, talking to Anita until near dawn. She was giddy and exhausted, which she found to only increase her excitement. She was so close to seeing her again and despite everything that had led to her moving closer she found it was the one thing that could make her smile. Well, two. That, and the fact that Anita was so excited to see her too.

Boarding the boat, she felt as buoyant as the the ship itself. Despite the slight nausea from seasickness, the call of the waves and her insomnia knocked her right out on the lounge deck. As a result, after the several hours passed with no sunscreen, her face was pink and too warm. It was that stinging feeling that initially woke her, and the captain's "Land ho!" that has her jumping to her feet. Unsteady after the jerk of the ship hitting the docks, she falls flat on her face. Scrambling to her feet, she runs back to her cabin, tugging her luggage as fast as she could. Eventually one of the crew took pity on her small form lugging a suitcase or three that was double her size. They offered to let her go on ahead, smiling brightly at the girl's contagious happiness.

Megan flies from the boat, only a small amount of her bothering to keep her balance so she wouldn't go eating sand. As soon as the ground--warm, tan sand that felt so good after the creaking floorboards of the ship--hit her toes she stops. Bouncing on her heels for a full thirty seconds, she scans the beach for Anita.

Oh, gods, it was so frikkin' beautiful here! The sand, the striking sky-blue/turquoise of the waves at her back. The palm trees, a few of which held hammocks. The wind that had that smell of pure salt water in it, the cry of the gulls somewhere further away. She sighs in giddy contentment, if that was possible.

Oh, hey, look. There's 'Nita. Megan was off again, figure bounding toward the sleeping mass of black hair like a puppy. She screeches to a halt over her form, simply watching and blinking a few times. So now the waiting ended. She was finally here! Yes! Pumping the air with one hand in exuberant excitement, she tilts her head down to Anita, her hair falling on the other girl's face. "Anita. Nita! Wake up!" She propels herself backward, losing herself in giddy, loud laughter.

Like a puppy, indeed. A puppy with long ears that it could trip over frequently. Megan was so, so, so adorable, though! And her feelings just seemed so pure, so bright! She was nothing like the others of that school where Anita had met her for the first time.

Anita, still knocked out on her softly swaying hammock, noticed not when Megan hung over her, and shade cooled her face, although eyelashes fluttered so barely and lightly. She was content in her sleep. She was dreaming of Meg, and little did she know that the newly sun-kissed girl was hanging over her.

Loud noise... Anita flailed and squirmed almost violently, upturning her hammock and being dumped out onto the sand. She looked like she'd had a seisure, for how brief and extreme her movement had been, but before she even reached the ground, she came into the realization of what had just happened, who'd just yelled in her face. Her feet dug into the sand, and Megan was tackled into a tight, tight, excited hug.

"Oh, Megan, Megan, Meggy, Meg!" Oh, she was so happy, she could cry. No, she was crying. Tears were actually leaking from the corners of her eyes, if in very small amounts. She held onto her Megan as tightly as she could, wrapping her up. She was here! She was actually here! So long since she'd last seen her, and now her best friend forever was here to stay with her for an entire MONTH! Nothing could bring the moment down.
